Volunteer Opportunities for Middle and High School

Serving teenagers is more than just helping the next generation grow in their faith. Whether you are a small group leader, donating food to feed the youth, taking out the trash or simply chaperoning an event, YOU are making a difference in the lives of these youth. If you are interested in helping out in any of the following areas, please contact the Religious Education Office at 757-421-7416.

There are many different opportunities to get involved in our youth ministry. Here are a few ways:

DISCOVERY (Middle School) Small Group Leader: Serve Sunday afternoons (3:00pm – 4:30pm), facilitating discussion that helps a teen go deeper in their faith. DISCOVERY Small Groups are composed of youth of the same gender and in the same grade. Commitment is once a week.

DISCOVERY Catechist: Give an interactive, dynamic teaching on an already chosen topic/theme. Catechists choose which topics they’d like to give a lesson on.

DISCOVERY Environment Crew: Create a welcoming environment for the middle school youth attending DISCOVERY. Help set-up and clean-up the DISCOVERY program. You can commit one week a month to every week of the year.

DISCOVERY Food Crew: Provides tasty, healthy snacks for our youth for one or two DISCOVERY sessions.

DISCOVERY Summer Bible Study Leader: Lead discussions with middle school youth on Thursdays during the summer (5:00pm – 6:00pm) using various materials provided. Dates will be set once adults are in place.
